Puffers are from the family of tetraodontidae. They are called puffers because they can draw sea water into their stomach and can triple their size when frightened. The internal organs of these fishes contain tetrodotoxin, which can kill a human because of its power. It depends on the specie of the puffer. All puffers don't have spines. The spines are found in porcupine puffer fishes which aren't true puffer. Diodon is a true puffer. This fish is called fugu in Japan and is eaten. It is very expensive and delicious too. Only those chefs are allowed to serve this fish who have license.
