Hitting speeds of up to 120 miles per hour and making the descent towards Manhattan at the rate of two miles in two miutes, this group of 5 wingsuit flyers from the Red Bull Air Force look more like super heroes than skydivers as they free fall in blue wingsuits over NYC. Wikipedia defines this unique extreme sport of wingsuit flying as the act of ” flying the human body through the air using a special jumpsuit, called a wingsuit, which adds surface area to the human body to enable a significant increase in lift.
It turns out that wing suits are also called bat suits “due to their vague resemblance to the animal or perhaps the superhero”. (I knew it!)
